It was the beginning of my third year as an undergraduate finance major when I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to teach English, but even more so, I wanted to become an editor for a small publishing company. So many times, I’ve read books published by small companies that had spelling and grammatical errors, and it drove me crazy! (Believe it or not, I would make corrections in my books as I read, and yes, it’s that important to me). Unfortunately, I had already completed two years in the college business, and even though I desperately wanted to follow my dreams, there was no way I was switching to the college of liberal arts & sciences my junior year. I would have been starting from scratch! So, I sucked it up and switched my major to marketing.
Thankfully, human resources has allowed me to keep my passion alive by editing performance reviews, write-up & coaching documents, writing & editing job descriptions, and etc. My employees always know that when I pull out my red pen, I mean business! Editing one-hundred performance reviews isn’t work for me; it’s fun. And, you know what? I think I love to edit even more than I love to write. I took a grammar & usage course at Indiana University Northwest last fall, which was a great refresher of my skills and knowledge and has further prepared me to take on the task of Freelance Editor.
So, let’s talk. Are you a blogger, writer/author, business professional, job seeker, etc. but do not enjoy the editing process? Or, are you in need of a second eye to review and polish your work?
I’ve had the pleasure of editing blogs, business documents, essays, resumes, and even ghostwriting as apart of my job or just for fun for friends & family, but now it’s time to take this show on the road! I would love the opportunity to work with you and make your work as amazing as possible. So, let’s make magic together!
